Organization Praised for Deep Spiritual Sharing and Innovation in Workshops and Podcast
Moyo Institute is thrilled to announce that it has secured a fourth year of funding from the Lloyd Symington Foundation. This generous grant will enable the continuation of the Love Letters to Our Bodies workshops for Black women navigating a cancer journey, as well as the development of the second season of the Love Letters to Our Bodies podcast.
“We are pleased with how Moyo continues to innovate and share deeply spiritual tools,” said Toby Symington, Executive Director of the Lloyd Symington Foundation. “During this last grant cycle, including information about the harms caused by carcinogens in black beauty products and launching the new podcast are great examples.”
Conscious Black Beauty Movement
Dr. Astrid Williams with the California Black Health Network introduced the Conscious Black Beauty Movement (CBBM) - to empower Black women to embrace their beauty and health from the inside out.
"This entire Love Letters to Our Bodies project is about increasing awareness and being conscious of the power we have within," said Gwendolyn Mitchell, CEO of Moyo Institute. "We're honored to be connecting with so many courageous sisters who are meeting these challenges and choosing to deeply explore themselves."
The Love Letters 2 Our Bodies podcast, launched earlier this year, highlights the resilience and courage of African American women who have faced cancer. Season one featured deeply moving personal journeys, while the upcoming second season will explore diverse healing modalities such as Reiki, sound healing, color puncture, acupuncture, and more.
First Workshop during New Grant Cycle in January
The first Love Letters to Our Boies workshop of 2025 will take place online on January 11–12. Designed for Black women who have personally experienced cancer or who are primary caregivers to family members facing the disease, the workshop provides a safe and empowering space for healing and connection.
Mitchell expressed gratitude for the continued partnership: “We are delighted that the Lloyd Symington Foundation is funding us for an additional year. It's great to be working with a funder with whom there is a beautiful alignment in mission and purpose, and we are humbled by their generosity and faith in Moyo’s vision for the Love Letters project.”
